- Style Workshop #2:
- Chapter 3–“As He Himself Puts It: The Art of Quoting, They Say / I Say (42-51).
- Review Patterns 2, 4 and 5 (including variations) in The Art of Styling Sentences.
- Read Tools 4, 5 and 6 in Writing Tools (23-35)
- Readings Due:
- Sample RA: Losing Our Religion
- Complete all Style Workshop readings and bring your books to class–be ready to engage these tools and patterns

- Wednesday 9/4 by 8pm–Blog 2: Ad Analysis (post video / image as well). There is no assignment sheet for this blog post. Just try to replicate the kinds of analysis we performed in Tuesday’s class as we discussed and applied the principles of rhetoric. 200-250 words should suffice. Make sure to embed videos and include pictures relevant to the ad.

- Patterns 7 and 8 in The Art of Styling Sentences

- Bring in working draft of your RA to class with you (in addition to the hard copy of your first paragraph, bring your computers as we’ll likely get to work on the papers for a bit in class).
- Schedule Group Conferences for week 5
- Assignment Due:
- Bring a fully developed first paragraph to class, with emphasis on strategic opening moves and a specific argumentative thesis. Hard copy.
- Readings Due:
- It goes without saying that you will be re-reading (more than once) the article on which you chose to write your RA.

Tuesday & Thursday, 9/17-19: Group Conferences
- Class Activities:
- Attend Peer Group Conferences on Tuesday and Thursday. Group members and times are available in OAKS. Simply go to the “management” tab and select “groups.” From there, you should see your group name, group members, and conference time. Select “group files” and upload your RA Draft to the group locker. Please print out, read, and fill out a grading grid for the RAs that your conference group members submitted to the group folder (see recent e-mail).
