The Center for Civic Engagement sponsors a program called Alternative Break, where students spend college breaks traveling to national and international destinations to participate in community service, explore exciting places, and make new friends! All trips are led and planned by students and are completely substance-free.

This year’s service immersion experiences will explore issues related to education and English literacy, healthcare access, urban agriculture, organic farming, and activism/community development. Stay tuned for more information regarding information sessions to be held in October!

New Orleans, LA: $500

The People Behind the Policy: Healthcare in our nation’s capital

Washington, DC: $500

Conserving Crops in Costa Rica: Organic farming and sustainability

La Gran Vista, Costa Rica: $1200-1250

Games and Grammar: Youth outreach and literacy education

Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic: $1500-1550

Not Just a Bandage: Access to healthcare in Guatemala**

Antigua, Guatemala: $1650 

**Must be enrolled in a pre-med course of study to apply**
