CofC has moved to PAPERLESS Course-Instruction Evaluations!

As of this semester, there are no longer paper course evaluations.

Students can begin their course evaluations on Nov 15th – December 6th.  If you have a few moments while you are in the Addlestone Library, the link for course evaluations is easily accessible on the 250 computers in the library!

Students can also access the evaluation forms directly at coursereview.cofc.edu, MyCharleston, or via their Edisto email invitation.  Team-taught and linked course will have an online evaluation for each professor.

Students should use their Cougars user name and password to access their Course Instructor Evaluations for each class.

Library User Survey

The Addlestone library is conducting its annual user survey and we encourage your participation.  Please let us know what you think about the library and its services by completing this brief survey. http://cofc.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_8GNMFNGNpwzZbaA.  While the survey is primarily directed at our largest user base, students, please take the time to let the library know what “you” need and you think.  Your feedback will help us shape the future of the library and its service to the college community. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

The Lowcountry Digital Library uploads its 30,000th image!

John W. White, Project Director of the Lowcountry Digital Library announced that yesterday the Lowcountry Digital Library uploaded its 30,000th image!  According to John, the project, which is just over a year old, includes digitized primary documents, photographs, publications, oral histories, and other resources from 10 different local cultural heritage institutions — most of which are fully transcribed and keyword searchable.

If you haven’t visited in while we encourage you to take another look.  Over 5,000 of these items have been added in just the last six weeks. http://lowcountrydigital.library.cofc.edu

The Post and Courier
Thursday, July 9, 2009
The Lowcountry Digital Library is a collaborative effort to bring online more than 50,000 items from public and private archives in the Lowcountry.  Project partners included the Medical University of South Carolina, The Citadel, Gibbes Museum of Art, Historic Charleston Foundation, Beaufort County Library and the Charleston County Public Library.
The digital library received a $305,000 grant from the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, which will enable it to grow from its current 7,500 images to 50,000 over the next three years.

Food For Fines Update

The College of Charleston’s Marlene and Nathan Addlestone Library celebrated National Library Week by accepting canned food items to reduce library fines during the week of April 12 through 18, 2009.  All cans collected were given to the Lowcountry Food Bank to help with their relief efforts.  This year, 72 students brought in food for fines and the College of Charleston Libraries received more than 900 cans of food.
