Already mastered the Center for Student Learning‘s Workshop Series 101 study strategies? Ready to take your study strategies to the next level? This Workshop Series 201 will showcase experts in their fields covering advanced study strategies topics following the Workshop Series 101 weekly themes. These workshops will begin at 3:00 pm on Thursdays and last about an hour taking place in Room 120 on the first floor of the Addlestone Library; you are welcome to come and relax while learning some new information! Whether you are an upper classman, faculty member, or staff member, everyone is welcome to attend these workshops to advance their knowledge of current information and research for study strategy related topics.

Study Skills Workshops 201: “Current Awareness”

Social media is an important technological trend that has big implications for how researchers (and people in general) communicate and collaborate. Web 2.0 is rich with tools that can augment coursework, enhance research, or foster collaboration. In this workshop we will look at going digital by building your research toolkit. We will then look at harnessing social bookmarking, RSS and alerts, Twitter, and personalized news readers to have research come to you in an organized and methodical way!

Do you know what the food you are eating does to your body?  Being college is difficult and being on a college diet is even harder, so learn the tips to implement in your life to stay healthy through all the stress.  There is a lot to learn about nutrition, but we have a full hour so come with questions to ask the expert in nutrition!

In this workshop we will explore Evernote and all the possibilities! We will first answer the questions what is Evernote and how can you use it in your everyday? Then we will look as products such as Skitch, Web Clipper, Evernote Clearly, Hello, Food, Peek, and Penultimate that can integrate Evernote with other apps and programs. Evernote is a very complex and strong program, so come see the ins and outs of this amazing program!

The “Let’s Not Meet: Making the Most of Time with Asynchronous Collaboration” workshop will discuss time and project management strategies. First we will take stock of the different devices, programs, and apps that can help you to asynchronously collaborate with other.  Next we will discuss how to set up meetings and scheduling time for communication online. Finally we will look at practical ways of getting together and working collaboratively in the workshop with others!
