Do you know what the food you are eating does to your body?  Being college is difficult and being on a college diet is even harder, so learn the tips to implement in your life to stay healthy through all the stress.  There is a lot to learn about nutrition, but we have a full hour so come with questions to ask the expert in nutrition!

In collaboration with the Center for Student Learning, the Library is co-sponsoring  a series of complimentary study skills workshops in fall 2014.

  • Workshop Series 101, offered by the Center for Student Learning, is geared towards the general student population wanting more information on study skills.  The 101 series occurs three times a week lasting about 50 minutes for each session.
  • Workshop Series 201, offered by the Library, is geared towards upper classmen and faculty, staff, and Friends of the Library that are interested in more advanced information literacy skills. The 201 series has guest speakers from all around campus.  These workshops will last about a hour and will take place at 3pm on specific Thursdays in Room 120 on the first floor of the Addlestone Library.

Study Skills Workshops 201: “Unpacking Evernote” with guest speaker Laura Plotts

In this workshop we will explore Evernote and all the possibilities! We will first answer the questions what is Evernote and how can you use it in your everyday? Then we will look as products such as Skitch, Web Clipper, Evernote Clearly, Hello, Food, Peek, and Penultimate that can integrate Evernote with other apps and programs. Evernote is a very complex and strong program, so come see the ins and outs of this amazing program!

The “Let’s Not Meet: Making the Most of Time with Asynchronous Collaboration” workshop will discuss time and project management strategies. First we will take stock of the different devices, programs, and apps that can help you to asynchronously collaborate with other.  Next we will discuss how to set up meetings and scheduling time for communication online. Finally we will look at practical ways of getting together and working collaboratively in the workshop with others!

The Library has created new student tutorials for OAKS 10.3.  Please feel free to share or embed these tutorials or our playlist in your classes. This tutorial demonstrates YouTube’s built in capabilities to caption videos easily by typing video transcripts directly into the YouTube interface and using the automatic timing feature. This tutorial was adapted from the YouTube Help Center available at http:support.google.com/youtube. Make sure to visit this site for additional tutorials.

Study Skills Workshops 201: “Learning Google Drive” with guest speaker Jolanda van Arnhem, Instructional Design Librarian in the Addlestone Library

Google has a lot of different apps within it such as Gmail, Calendar, Documents, Presentations, and Hangouts. Come to this workshop to learn about Google Drive and Apps and all the amazing things you can do!  You will walk through sharing and collaborating in Google Docs, learn how to download Google Drive and discuss the ins and outs of each app.  You will leave this workshop set up and ready to use Google Apps!
