The Center for Documentary is offering FREE multimedia workshops on Tuesdays – (beginning 9/1/09) from 6-8 p.m. in the Education Center, Room 207. Students are welcome. For more information contact Dave Brown at BrownDD1@cofc.edu
Move in weekend was a resounding success for everyone involved. For those interested, here are the preliminary statistics on how many computers were configured. Between Student Computing support and Campus Technologies, we had 20 technicians available on both days.
554 students came in requesting help, including some that had to come back due to problems in residence halls or connection questions. Also, some were missing passwords or had to go get their charger and come back.
Here’s the breakdown on OS types for computers that were successfully configured:

The theme this semester is “Back to School: Top Web Apps to Help you with College Life.” During Welcome Week we’ll give an overview of the Fall 09 sessions.
Here is an excerpt from the article with directions on how to embed a flickr image and slideshow:
To embed an individual Flickr photograph in your blog, click the “Share This” link (available next to the photo title) and choose embed it.
To embed a Flickr photo slideshow in your web page, open any Slideshow in a new page and choose “Customize HTML” from the embed option. Here you can specify a custom size for your Flash slideshow so that it fits just right into your web page.

Data presentation can be more than tables, pie charts and bar graphs. To convey the message you want to present, you might want to be a little more creative to catch your audiences attention. Here are a few creative approaches to help you reconsider your average pie chart.
A Periodic Table of Visualization Methodsis a great resource if you have information you need to present visually, but don’t know the best way to express it.
