Step-by-Step Video Tutorial

Depending on how you run your course and how you use OAKS you may not want or need the standard OAKS Homepage (News, Upcoming Events, Etc.)  There is a way to change that page to display only a tool, such as Content, so that’s the first thing students see when they come into the class.  Be aware however, that doing this will eliminate the News Tool and the Upcoming Events areas currently on the Course Homepage.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Log into your OAKS Course and, from the upper navigation, choose Management > Edit Course.
  2. Click on Homepages.
  3. Click on the blue button entitled Create Homepage.
  4. Title this homepage so that it is clear what’s on the page.  This is helpful when copying it from course to course.
  5. Under Type choose Tool.
  6. Next to Tool choose the tool you wish to display, such as Content.
  7. Click Save and Close.
  8. Now under Active Homepage select the name you gave your homepage in step 4 .
  9. Click Apply.

Now click on your Course Home link and you should see only that tool displayed.

If you want to put it back like it was:

  1. Log into your OAKS Course and, from the upper navigation, choose Management > Edit Course.
  2. Click on Homepages.
  3. Under Active Homepage select CofC Default Course Homepage.
  4. Click Apply.
