Gender Differences – IRAN
Not without my daughter (for those who speak German: Nicht ohne meine Tochter) is a really interesting film. While watching it you really get a good insight on how life is going on in Iran. I really liked watching it because it is based on a real life experience…
Here is a link – I think if you read through it you really get a good impression on what the film is all about…

Here I like to provide you with some things which came to my mind while I watched it…
Religion – very important issue – the film really displays how strong this impacts daily life…praiers early in the morning – everyone (every member of the family) has to go there…Moreover religious leaders have a strong impact on how people behave
Collectivism – everyone is involved – but men and women are seperated – this means that they eat seperately and people spend most of their time in groups
Family – family members stick all the time together – there is a really strong coherence between the members
Street Life – very busy and caotic – it seems that there exist hardly any rules when driving a car down the road…
Guns – people who wear guns (impressive ones – Kalashnikov) mainly demonstrate power with it
Strangers – especially women from abroad have a really though time there. I really tought that the iran women would support her but this really was not the case. Instead, they started both to discriminate and isolate her…
Men – have a very high status in this culture – women have to ask their husband for example when they want to leave the house
If you are interested in getting an inside in this culture I really appreciate you to watch this film because from my point of view it both exciting and interesting…
Looking forward to some replies!
