The campus is quiet, but our students, alumni, faculty and staff are as active as can be with three major accomplishments to report:

2008 College of Charleston alumnus Carol Hannah Whitfield is a contestant on Project Runway (Lifetime TV). Ms. Whitfield studied Studio Art with an intense focus on drawing courses under the tutelage of Sarah Frankel. The School of the Arts is thrilled to cheer on Ms. Whitfield. The season premiere will take place on August 20 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

The School of the Arts congratulates the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art on receiving an $80,000 grant from the prestigious Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. As part of the School’s 20th Anniversary the Halsey Institute will present an exhibition in the new building, The Marion and Wayland H. Cato Center for the Arts, on October 23. The School of the Arts is proud to announce that Art History professor Dr. Matthew Canepa has been awarded the $80,000 Charles A. Ryskamp Fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies. He also has been inducted into the highly regarded Society of Antiquaries of London. Dr. Canepa will utilize the fellowship to complete his research for an upcoming book “Iran Between Alexander and Islam.”
