Student Organizational Review Board (SOR)

The Student Organizational Review Board Committee is the body that reviews all potential student organizations and clubs. The committee is there to review organizational by-laws to ensure a benefit to the College of Charleston community with the registration of the new organization.
All organizations must be registered but can then be sanctioned by the SGA. The difference, registered organizations do not receive a budget from the SGA, and sanctioned organizations receive an annual budget.
To form a new organization on campus, the potential club must submit a Student Organization Registration Packet to the SOR to be reviewed. After approval from SOR, a bill comes before the Student Senate so that they may receive Preliminary Approval. Once given Preliminary Approval the potential club must go through a 28-day waiting period during which time the members can hold informal meetings to gain interest on campus. After this waiting period, the SOR brings a bill before Senate to receive Final Approval. For more information about the New Organization Process please refer to The Compass, a guide to all organizations on campus distributed by the department of Student Life.
