Community Outreach

The Community Outreach Committee’s main purpose is to strengthen the connection between students at the College and the community of Charleston. We recognize our responsibility to the local, national, and global communities as well and will work together to strengthen these connections. In order to grow and improve our relationships, we will participate in and host a number of events throughout the year. Both the College of Charleston and the surrounding communities rely on one another’s’ support in order to grow and learn, and Community Outreach Committee will help facilitate this need to the utmost of our ability. Our involvement is not only helpful to the students at CofC and the community, but it is also a fun and interesting way to learn more about the people and culture of our beautiful city, nation, and world.
We will be planning on having the following events for the academic year 2007 to 2008: Community Forum/Voters Forum, Clean up the Beach, Campus-Wide Yard Sale, Change Collection, Blood Drive, Bike Auction, Take Back then Night, Dash for Trash/ MLK Challenge, and Toy Drive.
Chair: Chairperson Kelly Dewes
Committee Members: Senators Tim Drevins, Catherine Barthelme, Lia Daniels, Rachel Koch, Adam Brunelle, and Rachel Nielsen
