Final SGA Senate Today

Today, April 17, 2007 will be the final session of the Student Government Association Student Senate for the 2006-2007 Academic year. As with all of our meetings, it is open to every member of the Student Body. The Association invites everyone to come to today’s Senate to have your voice heard on several issues that will be on the Agenda, as well as to watch the swearing-in ceremony of the Association’s newly elected Senators.

Senate will hear resolutions that pertain to yesterday’s violent attacks on the campus of Virginia Tech. One resolution will send our most heart-felt condolences to the many students of the University and one will take a look at the College of Charleston’s own emergency plan if similar events were to happen on our campus. The Senate will also be debating legislation that will show our support for a Design Your Own Major program at the College, allowing students to be creative with their field of study. Finally, the Association will discuss the possibility of implementing a new committee dealing with campus environmental issues, called the College of Charleston Sustainability Committee (CCSC). This will be a campus committee with members from departments all over campus and student representatives.

Again, you are invited to take part in your Student Government. The Student Senate will be held in the Stern Center Ballroom at 4:30pm.
