AIA’s South Carolina Society proudly presents a lecture by our members James Newhard and Scott Harris and colleague Grant Gilmore, who will speak on “Excavations at 63 1/2 Coming St.: Exploring an evolving urban African-American landscape in Charleston.” The excavations on the campus of the College of Charleston produced one of Archaeology magazine’s Top 10 Discoveries of 2021, the slave tag found at 63 ½ Coming St. in Charleston. Please join us to learn more about this important site and what it tells us about African-American life in 19th c. Charleston.
