‘Measuring Entrepreneurship Activity’ Conference to be Held August 24

The School of Business will host a working conference focused on “Measuring Entrepreneurship Activity in the Lowcountry” on Friday, August 24, 2012. The conference, which is open to policy and economic development professionals in the Lowcountry and S.C., will be from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Tate Center, room 202, at 5 Liberty Street.
The Center for Entrepreneurship at the College of Charleston will sponsor the event.  Dr. David Desplaces, director of the Center, and Tom Lauria, area manager for the S.C. Small Business Development Center (SBDC), will facilitate the conference.

Conference participants will explore some key themes regarding entrepreneurship activity in our region. These include:

  • How do you measure entrepreneurship activity?
  • Is there one optimal method or is it better to take several factors into account?

This “hands-on” conference will include working sessions with the goal of developing matrices and indices to support growth in the Lowcountry.  Seating is limited and registration is required. Please call the Center for Entrepreneurship at 843.953.5247 to learn more and to register.
