Dear Student,

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), as amended, is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. In accordance with regulations issued under FERPA, the College of Charleston provides an annual notification to our enrolled students of their rights under FERPA; as well as an explanation of the exceptions under FERPA that allow the College to disclose information from the student’s education record without consent.

Dear Undergraduate Students,

The Office of the Registrar welcomes you to the Fall 2019 semester!  This email contains some helpful dates, deadlines, and information about the semester.

Academic Calendar:  Please be sure to take a few minutes to review the entire Fall 2019 Academic Calendar.   Here are a few highlights:

  • Drop/Add Deadline for Full Semester Classes: Tuesday, August 27th
  • Last day to submit forms to Audit a Full Semester course:  Tuesday, August 27th
  • Withdrawal Deadline for Express I Classes: Thursday, September 19th
  • Drop/Add Deadline for Express II Classes: Friday, October 11th
  • Withdrawal Deadline for Full Semester Classes: Friday, October 25th
  • Withdrawal Deadline for Express II Classes: Thursday, November 14th

Academic Catalogs:  Looking for the undergraduate or graduate academic catalog (academic regulations, course descriptions, department/program information, etc.)?  Visit the web page: http://registrar.cofc.edu/academic-catalog/index.php

Full-time vs Part-time Status:  A minimum of 12.0 credit hours is considered full-time enrollment for undergraduate students. Be careful about dropping or withdrawing from courses which take your total enrollment hours below this minimum, as your financial aid and health insurance could possibly be affected. 

Holds:  Registration holds for a past due balance, an advising hold, parking or library fines, etc., will keep you from being able to drop, add or withdraw from classes in MyCharleston. You can check for any registration holds using the Academic Services tab in MyCharleston.  Look for the Registration Tools channel and click by clicking on the Registration Status link.  Only the department who placed the hold can remove it from your account.   If you have a hold and need to drop or withdraw from a class (by the appropriate deadline), please contact the Registrar’s Office for assistance BEFORE THE DEADLINE at registrar@cofc.edu! Requests after the deadline are not eligible for processing.

Registration Entry Dates

Fall 2019

For Undergraduate Students

Early Registration for Fall 2019 begins on Tuesday, March 26th, by assigned entry date for all currently enrolled students via MyCharleston on the Academic Services Tab.

The entry date scheduled is based on earned hours.  This does not include the hours in which you are currently enrolled.

Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time  on the designated dates listed below.  For example, students with 90-122+ earned hours can register at 8:00 am on March 26, 2019. Students with 80-89 earned hours can begin to register at 8:00 am on Tuesday, April 2nd. Registration for all currently enrolled students, regardless of earned hours, begins on Tuesday, April 16th.

Students who have not declared a major should contact the Academic Advising & Planning Center at 843.953.5981 for an appointment.

Students who have declared a major should contact their major(s) advisor(s) for an advising appointment.

NOTE: There is limited registration availability for Fall 2019 courses, after June 16, 2019, due to New Student Orientation/Registration. Registration will be available as follows:

June 29th – July 7th;

July 19th – Aug 11th ;

Aug 17th through Drop/Add deadline
