Dear Undergraduate Students,

The Office of the Registrar welcomes you to the Fall 2019 semester!  This email contains some helpful dates, deadlines, and information about the semester.

Academic Calendar:  Please be sure to take a few minutes to review the entire Fall 2019 Academic Calendar.   Here are a few highlights:

  • Drop/Add Deadline for Full Semester Classes: Tuesday, August 27th
  • Last day to submit forms to Audit a Full Semester course:  Tuesday, August 27th
  • Withdrawal Deadline for Express I Classes: Thursday, September 19th
  • Drop/Add Deadline for Express II Classes: Friday, October 11th
  • Withdrawal Deadline for Full Semester Classes: Friday, October 25th
  • Withdrawal Deadline for Express II Classes: Thursday, November 14th

Academic Catalogs:  Looking for the undergraduate or graduate academic catalog (academic regulations, course descriptions, department/program information, etc.)?  Visit the web page: http://registrar.cofc.edu/academic-catalog/index.php

FERPA:  The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), as amended, is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records.  For more information, visit the webpage: http://registrar.cofc.edu/ferpa/index.php

Full-time vs Part-time Status:  A minimum of 12.0 credit hours is considered full-time enrollment for undergraduate students. Be careful about dropping or withdrawing from courses which take your total enrollment hours below this minimum, as your financial aid and health insurance could possibly be affected.

Holds:  Registration holds for a past due balance, an advising hold, parking or library fines, etc., will keep you from being able to drop, add or withdraw from classes in MyCharleston. You can check for any registration holds using the Academic Services tab in MyCharleston.  Look for the Registration Tools channel and click by clicking on the Registration Status link.  Only the department who placed the hold can remove it from your account.   If you have a hold and need to drop or withdraw from a class (by the appropriate deadline), please contact the Registrar’s Office for assistance BEFORE THE DEADLINE at registrar@cofc.edu! Requests after the deadline are not eligible for processing.

One Stop Answers:  Visit our One Stop Answers for Common Student Requests web page for additional questions and answers.

Program of Study Resources:  Visit the web page Program of Study Resources to find Major Roadmaps, Program of Study Planners, General Education Requirement information and more!

Proxy Access Management:  Current College of Charleston students have the ability to electronically share certain academic and financial aid information with a parent or guardian.  Visit http://registrar.cofc.edu/proxy-access-management/index.php for more information.

Have a great semester! Go Cougars!
