An interesting article came out about the relationship between the so-called Horologium of Augustus (an obelisk and meridian line) and the Ara Pacis (the altar of peace dedicated by the Senate in Augustus’ honor). Using data provided by NASA, the long standing theory that the obelisk pointed to the Ara Pacis on Augustus’ birthday has been disproven, but new speculations about connections continue.
