Important Dates:

New Student deadline for guaranteed housing on-campus is today (May 1)! 843-953-5523

The housing application must be completed (all questions answered, contract signed, building preferences selected) via MyCharleston and the tuition deposit paid (to the Office of Admissions – 843-953-5670) prior to 5pm on May 1 to be guaranteed a space on campus. Any questions should be directed to Residence Life.

Email reslife@cofc.edu if you have questions about moving out, the residence hall your student has been assigned to for 2012-13, extending stay due to graduation, roommate assignments, summer housing, or wish to share comments regarding the residence hall or residence life issues.

Problems with MyCharleston or campus email:

Students should contact HELPDESK about trouble accessing MyCharleston or campus email. Call 843-953-3375 or email helpdesk@cofc.edu – please include name and CWID if emailing.

 

E-mail Notification:

It is extremely important that new and current students maintain their official College of Charleston e-mail account. It is their responsibility as a student to check this e-mail account frequently to retrieve official communication and to ensure mailbox space is available to receive these notifications. All correspondence from the College (including financial aid, bills, and emails from faculty) is sent to the College of Charleston email account.

E-mails are sent pertaining to students about “missing or incomplete financial documents,” and “information concerning financial aid award packages.” In the email, students will be instructed to log into MyCharleston to review the current financial aid status. In some circumstances, there may be additional information needed to complete the financial aid file.

Parents and students complete the FAFSA to receive financial aid for the academic year. Financial aid includes grants, loans (student and parent), and federal work study. Students and parents can walk in and meet with a CofC financial aid counselor any time between 8:30-5 M-F during the summer and academic year. Email financialaid@cofc.edu with questions.

Please note that this information is for the 2011-12 academic year. As a state-affiliated institution, the College of Charleston’s fees are based on appropriations granted by the South Carolina General Assembly. Accordingly, the fees charged by the college will be directly affected by the action of the legislature and are therefore subject to change without notice.

Summer 2012 Orientation registration: New Student Programs – 843-953-2017

All new students must attend a two-day orientation session during the summer. Information regarding the summer orientation sessions for new students is mailed out beginning in March to students who have paid their tuition deposit. Students may register for orientation by logging on to their MyCharleston account, selecting the academic services tab and going to the orientation box in the first column.  Students will need to refer to the questions in the orientation registration booklet (white booklet) before logging in to register for orientation. It is also helpful to refer to the FYE Academic Guide (red booklet) when selecting FYE courses. Students will enroll in fall coursework including FYE during orientation.

 

Family Orientation: New Student Programs – 843-953-2017

The Family Orientation is held at the same time as New Student Orientation. This program gives family members an introduction to campus resources, opportunities to ask questions and meet others and a chance to see our beautiful campus. Students can register family members to attend family orientation during their own registration for orientation. Family orientation is not mandatory but parents are highly encouraged to attend. The fee is $25.00 per family member. If your student does not register you for the event you may email orientat@cofc.edu to register.

 

Family Weekend September 28-30th: 843-953-2291

The Office of Student Life looks forward to welcoming you to campus September 28-30, 2012 for Family Weekend!  Please mark these dates on your calendar and visit http://familyweekend.cofc.edu/ on a regular basis for updates and additional information.  Online registration for Family Weekend will begin in early August.  Reminders will be sent to the listserv and a schedule of events will be mailed to families of first-year students. The weekend will include a variety of programs and events designed to highlight the history, culture and beauty of the College, the city of Charleston and the South Carolina Lowcountry.
