Cougar Countdown – Spring 2012

Dear Parents, this email was just sent to students—please see below. You know how easy it is for students to get over-stressed and over-wrought during exams: please encourage your students to start planning and organizing and even starting to study now, so they can take the time to get some rest and recreation during exam week! Cougar Countdown has plenty of healthy, positive ways to take needed breaks during exams!

There are plenty of exam planning resourcescalendars, exam schedules, study plans, etc.—at the Exam Planning Resource table at the Center for Student Learning—encourage your student to stop by and pick up the tools needed to make a plan!

Thanks for all that you do to help us support and encourage your students!

Subject: Exams Start Next Week! Don’t Get Stressed–Stay Calm, Stay Focused with Cougar Countdown!

Dear Students,

As you turn their attention to final exams, please remember to not only study, but also to take care of yourself, mentally and physically. It is very easy to work yourself into a frenzy of little sleep, poor diet, and bad choices for ‘blowing off steam’ during exams, which will cause you to suffer academically and physically—so don’t do it!!!!

Each semester, the Cougar Countdown planning team creates a series of healthy, stress-relieving breaks during Exam Week, designed to help students maintain a balance of study and study break.  Some are 5 minute breaks (like grabbing a snack or petting a puppy), and some are 1 hour (like yoga or Zumba classes) This spring, Cougar Countdown begins on Monday, April 23 and offers activities and events until the last day of exams on Wednesday, May 2. The full schedule can be found at cougarcountdown.cofc.edu . You can also check us out on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/CofCCountdown   and follow us on Twitter @cofccountdown .  Special events this spring include:

  • Chill on the Green! (Ice Cream Sundae Social on Rivers Green)
  • Coffee on the Green! (Free Coffee Every Morning on Rivers Green)
  • Yoga! Zumba! Mini-Massages!
  • Study Breaks Every Afternoon and Evening!
  • Puppies on the Green! (Yes, the Puppies are Back!)
  • Cupcakes on the Green! (Cupcake Study Break from the popular ‘Cupcake’ store on King)
  • Ask a Prof! (Get Your Exam Questions Answered by a Prof)
  • And More!

Please note that all events are FREE!

On behalf of the Cougar Countdown planning team, have a great end of the semester!
