LAST CALL

The Senior Class Council and Brightsound Entertainment present LAST CALL, an event for All Classes honoring the Class of 2011 and celebrating the End of the Year! LAST CALL is THIS FRIDAY, April 22nd, from 7-11pm at The Charleston Bus Shed (375 Meeting Street, entrance is on Ann Street between King and Meeting).  LAST CALL features Live Music Performances by Mama’s Love, Earphunk, and Under Class (featuring on of CofC’s very own!).  Adult Beverages will be available (Must Show ID to Drink) and food will be provided by Taco Boy and Jack’s Cosmic Dogs! 

Admission is *FREE* for Seniors!  Tickets are available at Stern Room 406 until Friday!! 

Advance Discount Tickets are $5 for All Underclassmen.  Tickets will be available in Cougar Mall until Friday!!

We are conducting a survey of College of Charleston students and faculty concerning the environment. The survey is for a class, Political Science 405: Climate Change Capstone taught by Dr. Brian Fisher. In the survey, we are attempting to gauge student and faculty attitudes about the environment and climate change. The survey is completely voluntary and confidential. At no point, will you be asked to identify yourself.  We want to survey as many students as possible. This event is free to any student who registers before the deadline. There are only 60 slots available so space is limited. Note: participants leave campus on Monday, May 9 around 1 p.m. and travel by chartered bus to the off-campus location and return to campus on Saturday, May 14 by 2 p.m. We hope that students will take advantage of this great opportunity to further enhance personal leadership skills and our campus community.

World Change Coalition

Want to make a difference? So do we! The World Change Coalition, one of CofC’s newest club, is an organization that focuses on issues such as improving upon education for underprivileged children, and promoting religious tolerance and cultural awareness. We are currently working on projects that include raising money and awareness for the Pakistan Aid Relief and the Japan relief. Next year we plan to start a tutoring program in local schools! Student Union for Multicultural Affairs (SUMA)

SUMA is the campus organization comprised of students and primarily focuses on underrepresented student populations of the College of Charleston campus.  Its purpose is to serve as the umbrella organization, which unifies students on the College of Charleston campus, to encourage college students’ appreciation of diverse experiences and cultures through programs and services, campus education and collaboration, improving campus climate and cultural awareness, community service, and academic excellence. 

SUMA needs a stable executive board, so that SUMA may continue to run as an active organization. If you are interested in running for Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer, then you must attend the general body meeting (or have someone represent you) on Friday, April 22nd from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM inside the Conference Room of the Multicultural Center. Afterward, we will plan out meetings and events for the upcoming Fall semester.

Swipe for the Hungry Campaign

Dining Services and the Student Government Association partner on their 2nd Annual “Swipe for the Hungry” campaign!

Students may donate their Dining Dollars now through April 22nd to help those in need in our community. All donations will be used to purchase food for the Charleston Homeless Veterans Program located on James Island, SC. Students may donate in campus dining location or the campus dining office.

ORIENTATION INFORMATION FAIR – SUMMER 2011 DATES

The Office of New Student Programs invites campus departments, student clubs, and organizations to participate in the Orientation Information Fair to be held on the first day of each summer orientation (June 13, June 16, June 20, June 23, June 27, July 7, July 11, July 14, August 15, August 18).  The information fair will be held outside the Stern Center, on George Street, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.  Participants should arrive to set up at 11:30 am.   

Orientation is an excellent opportunity to promote your majors, departmental services, recruit club members, or share club and organization information. Approximately 285 new students and 300 parents will attend each of the ten sessions, making orientation an excellent time to inform new students about the opportunities in your area.

Please note:

  • Due to budget cuts, one table and two chairs are provided to the first 40 groups that sign up. 
  • If you are not one of the first 40 groups to sign up, you can participate but must provide your own table and chairs.
  • The Orientation Information Fair is open to College of Charleston departments and campus related organizations.
