This was a great informational posting on the listserv from a parent this week that I felt should be on the blog.

I know this is not CofC business, but if your student drives, you may want this information…
In South Carolina, if you have a highway emergency, you can dial *HP (*47) on your cell phone to reach the highway patrol. I have it plugged in under “emergency” on my cell phone.
Over the years I have reported stranded cars, a stray dog on the interstate, a tire blowout on a dark road at night … and a terrible accident a few days ago when a girl ran a red light and hit the car in front of me! The police and an ambulance were there in minutes.
This is good info to know … and I was glad to have it when I needed it this week.
Some of our kids will be driving long distances over the holidays, so I just looked it up, and many states use *HP, but some states have other motorist emergency numbers.
I just made some copies of this to keep in our glove compartments … cause you never know!

You can find a map with the emergency numbers state by state at http://www.ou.edu/oupd/highway-cell.htm
