We have added new filmographies. We now have Spanish and Italian language films lists as well as a Japanese and Native American filmography. We are working on a Russian language film list and a history filmography which should be ready soon. Link to the Filmographies tab above.
Addlestone Room 335 has been equipped with video viewing stations. Students now have another viewing area to view videos on DVD or VHS. Even better, the room has a “Region 0 DVD player that plays the many foreign films we have been receiving that are not Region 1. Videos produced in North America are Region 1. Videos that are not Region 1 do not play in normal DVD players sold in the United States. A Region 0 player will play all dvd region code dvds. For an explanation of region differences and locations link here.
The date was early in October in the year of 2008. As the change of guard occurred, an exciting announcement was made by the Media Collection’s own bugle blower, Jared A. Seay. The news announced was that no longer would the Media Collection’s peasant workforce be forced to use the hardly-functional neanderthal office tools. The disabled tape dispenser was replaced by the “Jared A. Seay-certified” Stephen Richard Werdann Memorial Tape Dispenser. The position of the old-fashioned manpowered pencil shaver was filled by a innovative, high-tech Brandon L. Hare Memorial Pencil Sharpener. At first glance, the simpleton Media folk were astonished and partially confused. Since the initiations of the specialized tools for Media Collections management: efficiency is up, the economy is doing better, the unemployment rate of Civil War reenactment actors is down and every Friday is now Hawaiian t-shirt Friday.
Today is day one of the Media Collections blog launch. Using the College of Charleston’s new blog software (thank you Jared and Andrew), the College (and Media Collections and me) now has access to Word Press style blogging. Stay tuned for upcoming information and innovation from the “media folks” at the Addlestone Library. Coming soon: New titles list, reviews of (old and new) titles, what’s happening (and who’s doing it) in Media Collections.
