Library Tutorials

Below, you can find brief, useful, and informative video tutorials that cover, in detail, the resources available to you at the library and the general research skills you will need to access those resources. Because these offer more general overviews, I also wanted to remind you of some databases and resources you can use to find more info and academic articles on your chosen text. You can find these under the “databases” tab on the main library webpage.

  • MLA International Bibliography (searches articles available in hard copy and full text)
  • Project Muse (Full Text, English and Cultural Studies Journals, more recent)
  • Book Review Index (search for book reviews of any book published since 1965)
And here are the tutorials keyed to specific research skills; please view them all in advance of Wednesday’s class. Make sure you are able to articulate the difference between a catalog and a database and describe the difference between a keyword and an LC Subject heading. Also, come in with a list of search terms you might use to uncover information on your chosen topic. Finally, make sure you understand how to find resources that we might not have in-house at the College.
