Students Study Abroad in Brazil

This intensive two and a half week program examines the way in which Brazil’s historical background has contributed to the rich regional diversity of Brazilian people and society. Guided study tours to museums, cultural centers, historical sites and natural parks will be part of the two courses. Among other places, students may travel to the marvelous city of Rio de Janeiro, Capoeira City of Salvador, and to ecological paradises.

Dart After Dark: book discussion series, July 19

This book and lecture series is led by Consuela Francis, Director of the College of Charleston’s African-American Studies Program. The selection is “Parable of the Sower” by Octavia Butler, which is a futuristic tale of a young prophetess who can feel the pain of others and has to overcome civil unrest to carry on the hope and faith of a new world.

This event is free an open to the public.  Come, enjoy light snacks and lively discussion and enter a door prize raffle for additional books by Octavia Butler.
