VPN Software Upgrade

SERVICE: Internal and External VPN
IMPACT: Internal and External VPN Access will be intermittent throughout the identified maintenance window.
DATE: Thursday, September 10, 2015
TIME: 12:00PM to 1:00PM

OVERVIEW: On Thursday, September 10th from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM, Network Engineering will perform a software upgrade on equipment that supports the internal and external VPN. During this time, internal and external VPN access will be intermittent. Once upgraded, clients will be prompted to upgrade their VPN client and/or host checker software upon connecting to the VPN.

IMPACT: Access to Payment Services will be unavailable during this maintenance window.

OVERVIEW: On Saturday, April 25th from 7:00am-10:00am, Information Technology will perform an upgrade to TouchNet. All services will be restored by 10:00am.  During this upgrade one may experience a slight delay in payment postings.

Mediasite Lecture Capture Critical Upgrade

IMPACT: Live streaming and recordings through the automated scheduler for Mediasite Lecture Capture will be unavailable during this maintenance window.

OVERVIEW:

On Friday, April 17th, from 11:00 AM through 1:00 PM, Mediasite will be upgraded to version 7.0. Live streaming and the automated scheduling functionality through Mediasite Lecture Capture will be unavailable during this maintenance window. Local recording and playback will be available during this upgrade.

OVERVIEW: On Wednesday, March 4th, at 7:00 PM through 11:30 PM, Network Engineering will upgrade equipment that connects the TD Arena to the College network. Wired network and Internet connectivity will be unavailable in the TD Arena for the duration of the maintenance window. Wireless connectivity will not be affected.

MyCharleston/Banner Upgrade

SERVICE: MyCharleston/Banner Upgrade
IMPACT: Access to Banner Production Services including MyCharleston, Self-Service Banner (SSB), Internet Native Banner (INB), Banner Batch, UC4, and other applications dependent upon Banner for integration will be unavailable during this maintenance window.
DATE/TIME: Saturday, December 20th at 9:00 PM thru Sunday, December 21st at 2:00 PM

OVERVIEW: On Saturday, December 20th at 9:00 PM until Sunday, December 21st at 2:00 PM, Information Technology will perform an upgrade to Banner Production Services including MyCharleston, Self-Service Banner (SSB), Internet Native Banner (INB), Banner Batch, UC4, and other applications dependent upon Banner for integration.  Access to these applications will be unavailable. All services will be restored by 2:00 on Sunday, December 21st, 2014.

New Improvements with Cognos

Cognos was successfully upgraded to version 10.2 this past weekend thanks to a lot of coordination and effort from the Office of Institutional Research, Planning and Information Management and Information Technology. We hope your experience with the new version of Cognos is a positive one. The new features with Cognos 10.2 include:

  • New visualization and chart types that increase interactivity and ease of authoring
  • Major improvements with report processing by leveraging 64-bit architecture
  • Better performance with query transactions through 64-bit processing
  • Security improvements to protect sensitive data

Also, Cognos mobile extensions are coming soon! The mobile extensions will allow for interaction with Cognos Business Intelligence 10 through Apple iPhone/iPad and Android tablets for facilitating decision-making with timely information.

When logging in for the first time after the upgrade, you may need to clear your browser cookies or stored temporary internet files if you receive a “404” error instead of a log in page. As a reminder, IT recommends using Firefox for Cognos 10.2. For instructions on how to clear your browser cookies, please see below.

  1. Open Firefox
  2. Click on the triple lines in the top right corner to open the menu
  3. Select the History icon
  4. Select Clear Recent History for a pop-up box
  5. Make sure “everything” is listed in the time range to clear at the top of the box
  6. Make sure the following are checked:
    1. Browsing & Download history
    2. Cookies
    3. Cache
    4. Active Logins
  7. Click on the Clear Now button at the bottom of the menu
  8. This takes you back to your regular internet window. Try the link again: https://reporting.battery.cofc.edu
