Upcoming OAKS Login Changes

In collaboration with our OAKS vendor, Desire2Learn(D2L), the authentication method for logging into OAKS will be updated the afternoon of July 5, 2019.  OAKS authentication will now be managed by our Microsoft Azure/Office365 environment. This change is being made in a continuing effort to bring authentication continuity across College systems and to improve our security profile.

 

[Faculty and Staff] Reminder that you can request that multi-factor authentication (MFA) be enabled for your account now, instead of waiting until you are reached later this summer. MFA adds a vital layer of security needed to protect your information and enhances the security of systems at the College from ever increasing instances of phishing attempts and password hacks.

NEW Teams Trainings Available

The Division of Information Technology has started to push the Windows 10 installation to all College-owned desktop and laptop computers that were not upgraded prior to June 1, 2019. The upgrades are scheduled to occur in waves over the next several weeks and will automatically happen overnight.

If you experience any issues after the Windows 10 push to your computer, please submit a ticket or contact the IT Helpdesk by email helpdesk@cofc.edu, chat help.cofc.edu, or phone 843.953.3375.

Upgrade to Windows 10 Before June 1 Deadline

[Faculty and Staff] Is your computer still running the Windows 7 operating system? Use Software Center to upgrade College-owned desktop and laptop computers to Windows 10 before June 1, 2019. Visit training.cofc.edu for instructions and tips.

After June 1, Information Technology will begin remotely pushing the Windows 10 installation to all computers that have not made the upgrade.

The Scantron Alternative Project Team is pleased to announce the selection of Akindi as an alternative to our current bubble sheet scanning system.

Akindi offers everything our current system offers plus much more. With Akindi, you

  • can print and scan your bubble sheets from any multifunction printer/scanner.
  • have the results sent directly from most printers to Akindi for scoring.
  • have the scores submitted automatically to OAKS’ grade book.
  • check the validity of your questions and assessments with comprehensive reports.

In addition, you can create multiple versions of a test, set points at the question level, create multiselect questions as well as bonus question and even assign partial credit. Watch the Getting Started Video to learn more.

We will be launching this product for CofC use in July so watch your email for more information!
