Campus Service Disruptions During Holiday Break

The Physical Plant and IT departments anticipate several projects occurring on campus simultaneously over the subject holidays.  In an effort to seek a coherent and non-intrusive prosecution of same, a meeting of Project Managers, Construction Managers, architects, engineers, liaisons and stakeholders associated with various projects was held to discuss, establish and review the Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) for execution.  Projects anticipated for execution over the holidays may include but are not limited to the following:

  • George St. steam vault (Specific schedule being developed);
  • Condensate line replacement between Randolph Hall fountain and the clock (intersection of College and Greenway) dependent on completion of steam vault;
  • Randolph Hall electrical switchgear changeout (electrical outage about five days occurring sometime between 21 Dec 2013 through 2 Jan 2014);
  • IT Fiber Optic Upgrade – Internet and Network connectivity will be unavailable in certain areas on campus (see details below);
  • Addlestone library interior lighting (specifics TBD);
  • Rivers Green exterior lighting enhancements;
  • Install condensate pumping system Randolph Hall mechanical room
  • Campus-wide steam repairs various manholes/location (Schedule and specific locations being developed)
  • Maybank electrical transformer repair/replacement facility (electrical outage for 24 hrs commencing at 7 AM, 21 Dec 2013)

Internet and Network connectivity (including Wireless) will be UNAVAILABLE throughout the following areas/buildings:

  • 10 Greenway
  • 2 Greenway
  • 4 Greenway
  • 7 College
  • 9 College
  • 5 College
  • Buist – Rivers Residence Hall (Administrative and Classroom)
  • Central Energy
  • Porters Lodge
  • Sottile House
  • Towell Library
  • Wellness Center

UPDATE AS OF 11/5/13: Please note that the following buildings will no longer experience Internet and Network connectivity service disruptions due to additional IT design effort:

  • Randolph Hall
  • Robert Scott Small Building

Randolph Hall may experience intermittent disruptions to the wired and wireless network service prior to December 16th, 2013 in order to sustain service during the scheduled service disruption.
