In August, Information Technology launched a new web server for hosting faculty and staff personal websites and the response has been steady. The new server, named http://people.cofc.edu provides improved performance, security, ease of use, and more disk space for each user. If you currently maintain a personal website on the College’s administrative web server (Spinner), you will need to migrate over to the new web server (People). If you have not already, now is a good time to request your people.cofc.edu account, especially if you plan on working on your personal website over the break. To begin the process, please e-mail a move request to webmaster@cofc.edu. You will receive instructions on how to proceed. When you have moved your content from Spinner to People, your account and content on Spinner will be removed and all web traffic for your site will be directed to the new server. Eventually Spinner will be phased out as part of the Web Development Project.
Please note that we are focusing on moving personal websites off of Spinner first, departmental websites will be handled as part of the Web Development Project at a later date.
