The solution is a solar filter, the sort of lens used to watch an eclipse, but College of Charleston astronomy professor Terry Richardson couldn’t think of a store in the Lowcountry that carries them anymore. The next best bet is a No. 14 strength arc-welding lens, and that will be hard to find.
