The College of Charleston Foundation will use a $140,000 grant to transform hundreds of acres at Dixie Plantation in Hollywood into renewable forest.

Funding for the effort is coming from the Chicago-based Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, which supports conservation efforts in the Lowcountry. The money will be released over the next three years.
