One Year to the Day Since Boeing Came to North Charleston- WCIV

When the company made the announcement that it would be coming to the Low Country, that was good news then. And it’s good news now. The employment growth rate in the Charleston area is about twice that of that state average. College of Charleston economist Frank Hefner says a lot of that climb is thanks to Boeing.

“The biggest issue is really the sense that the nation and the state is going through a very bad recovery,” Hefner said. “It’s a jobless recovery. The bright spot for jobs in South Carolina happens to be in the Low Country and one of the reasons is Boeing is located here.”
