Meet Imani Brown. A graduate of Wando High School, Imani is currently a freshman majoring in psychology at the College. This is her first semester working in the HSS Dean’s office, and we are lucky to have her. Next time you are in 2 Green Way, be sure to say “hi” to Imani – she works at the front desk!

“I never thought that I would enjoy working as much as I do now. My freshmen year is amazing as a result of working with HSS. I work with the best people that anyone could ever meet. Thanks Guys for making my freshmen year a great one.”

Last night, political science professors Gibbs Knotts, Jordan Ragusa, and Kendra Stewart led a discussion and Q&A titled “Government Shutdown: Everything You Wanted to Know But Were Too Afraid to Ask.”

Knotts, Ragusa and Stewart spoke about the circumstances surrounding the government shutdown – what the shutdown means for citizens, the political standoff that caused it and the potential consequences for the debt ceiling. Following this presentation, members of the public were able to participate by asking the panelists questions.

Take a look at some photos from the event below:

Here are some media outlets the panelists have been featured in: http://blogs.cofc.edu/inthenews/

Did you know that the safest place during an earthquake is under a sturdy desk or table? (Doorways are not safe.) As you can see from the photos, our office decided to hold an earthquake drill and it was a success!
