The CofC Department of Religious Studies is hosting an Alumni Spotlight Series on Monday, April 3rd, at 3:30 in JWST 233.
This event will feature Class of 2018 Honors Alumni Madeline Leibin and focus on “Organizing & Lawyering for Religious Pluralism.
Come out and listen to Madeline reflect on her journey from an undergraduate at CofC, to a conflict resolution worker in Israel, to a law school student at NYU.
All students are welcome to attend!
Through its variety of grants, the Fulbright program offers students the opportunity to work, study, and live in another country for up to one year after graduation in one of the over 140 Fulbright partner countries.
A Fulbright can be a great way to begin graduate study, continue research, or pursue a meaningful gap year experience. Students pursuing a Fulbright must have completed their undergraduate degree by the start of the Fulbright grant period and select one of the opportunities listed below:
English Teaching Assistantship: Teach English to students ranging in age from pre-k to college while engaging with the local community.
Open Study: Pursue a master’s degree in one of the many available one-year degree programs, including through a number of field-specific grants.
Open Research: Propose a year-long research project on the topic of your choice in any of the Fulbright countries or pursue one of the field-specific grants in the Arts, Business, or STEM fields.

Exiled Syrian poet Sam Zamrik will give a poetry reading and discussion their work with Honors students.

About the Poet: Sam Zamrik (they/their) is a Syrian poet, translator, musician, and political educator, who lives in exile in Berlin, Germany. They are the recipient of the Wunderblock Award (10.000 Euro), and their first published volume of poetry Ich bin nicht (I am Not), was released on October 15, 2022, with Hanser Berlin Verlag.

The 25th Secretary of the Air & Space Force, Barbara M. Barrett, visits campus to discuss leadership on the world stage.
The Speaker: Barbara Barrett has served in many roles throughout her highly accomplished career, including: former U.S. Ambassador, Senior Advisor to the US Mission to the United Nations, Global President of the International Women’s Forum, President of the Thunderbird School of Global Management, and CEO of two Fortune 500 companies.

Planning a Study Abroad trip? Consider a semester full of pyramids and pharaohs at the American University of Cairo
The American University of Cairo program is supported by a generous scholarship from the School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs; students are strongly encouraged to consider while planning for study abroad.
This exchange program is currently open for the Fall 2023 semester or Fall 2023-Spring 2024 year.
Funding, up to $7,000 per semester, is available for study in Cairo, Egypt at the American University of Cairo. To apply for funding, see the links in the attached flyer.

Charleston School of Law and Furman University are hosting Climate Change and the Law: Rising Tides and Wash Up Legal Issues on Friday, February 24, 2023, 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., at The Charleston Museum.
Featured will be conversations centered around the legality of climate change policy. Panels will include subjects such as; Trends in Climate Litigation, The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Flood Management Projects and the Charleston Peninsula Study, Ethical Considerations in Climate Change: Renewable Energy, the Role of the Law Firm in a Changing Climate, and Other Considerations.
This event is a great opportunity for any student interested in political science, law school, urban development, and sustainability.

The German-American Business Summit on February 8th, 2023 in the Stern Center Ballroom will provide a unique opportunity to connect with German companies in the Southeastern US that are seeking to establish stronger ties to undergraduate education in the region.
The event consists of a job and internship expo, keynote presentations and panel discussions from business leaders on pressing issues in German-American industry, and a networking reception. Both of the day’s main events provide extensive opportunities for networking. This event is intended for any student with a global orientation that wants to work in industry or rehearse and work on how to interact with and explore job opportunities.
