Internships available with the Public Works Arts Center

The Public Works Art Center has two summer internships available for students for Summer 2023: an Arts Administration Intern and a Programming Director Intern. Learn more about the positions below:

As an arts administration intern at Public Works Art Center, you will have the opportunity to assist with many facets of the organization including nonprofit management, exhibition installation, event facilitation, and much more!

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with space maintenance and installation prep
  • Greeting and engaging with gallery visitors
  • Processing sales of art work and gift shop items
  • Updating and managing databases
  • Assisting with record keeping (related to grant documentation) 
  • Formatting and tracking press items (exhibition postcards, press releases, signage) 
  • Providing assistance at exhibition openings and events
  • Website and social media updating
  • Assisting Public Works Art Center’s Executive Director


Requirements:

  • Studio Art, Art History, Arts Administration, Nonprofit Management, or Arts Management majors preferred
  • Proficiency in Google suite (sheets, docs, forms, etc)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion 

As a programming and events intern at Public Works Art Center, you will have the opportunity to assist with many facets of the organization including class and camp implementation for children and adults, event facilitation, and much more.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting Programming Director with the shaping of our fall and winter programming
  • Assisting with record keeping
  • Assisting with grant management
  • Website and social media updating to promote classes and events
  • Purchasing supplies for classes and camps
  • Assisting with duties related to event rentals- communication, contracts, tours, etc.
  • Assisting with special events to possibly include artist receptions, 
  • Greeting and engaging with gallery visitors
  • Processing sales of art work and gift shop items


Requirements:

  • Studio Art, Art History, Arts Administration, Nonprofit Management, Education, or Arts Management majors preferred
  • Proficiency in Google Docs/Sheets required; graphic design experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Self starter, takes initiative
  • Passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion
