Dr. John Newell, founding dean of the Honors College, and Dr. Trisha Folds-Bennett, current dean of the Honors College, are leading a study abroad trip that will look at British culture from Roman Britain to the present day, examining the interaction between history, art and architecture, literature, and the creation of myth, how the zeitgeist of era influences everything around it. We will focus in particular on three elements of Britain’s past that are at the core of British identity: King Arthur, Royal Britain and Parliament, and World War II.

Course Info:

  • Course will count as a 3-credit hour HONS interdisciplinary course (old curriculum) OR a 3-credit hour HONS colloquium course (new curriculum)
  • Course also counts as a 3-credit hour humanities general education requirement
  • Optional: students can also complete an independent research project linked to the trip that can count as their Honors Immersed project
