Looking for ways to make an impact in the community? Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach is recruiting for compassionate volunteers for our Johns Island and downtown sites! We assist our neighbors in need, regardless of faith or creed, helping them achieve their desired path to self-sufficiency. Yes, I Can! After School Tutor
Description: Volunteers help students in 2nd-5th grade complete their homework assignments. Volunteers must have reliable transportation and must be enthusiastic about working with elementary-aged children. Volunteers must complete the Darkness to Light Stewards of Children training.
Times: Monday-Thursday from 4:00pm-5:00pm

ESL Tutor
Description: Volunteers teach English to non-native speakers. Teaching experience is preferred. A semester-long commitment is required.

GED Tutor
Description: Volunteers teach individuals who are obtaining their GED. We are looking for volunteers with expertise in Language Arts. A semester-long commitment is required.

Food Pantry Assistant
Description: Volunteers assist individuals make selections in our client choice food pantry, as well as keep the pantry stocked and organized.

Description: Volunteers assist staff with administrative tasks such as data entry and mailings.

Meditation Club

What: Learn various meditative techniques that have been shown to reduce stress, enhance cognitive performance, and facilitate ties with others

When: Will meet regularly on Wednesdays from 12 – 12:50 pm, and on the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month from 11 – 11:50 am. The first Wednesday meeting will be on September 5th and Monday meetings in September will fall on the 10th and 24th.

Where: RSS 319

No previous meditation experience is required.

South Carolina Washington Semester Program

What: The Washington Semester Program (WSP) gives eligible juniors and seniors the opportunity to spend a semester working and taking classes in Washington DC, gaining valuable experience while earning academic credit toward their degrees. Students do not have to be political science majors to apply as the program is applicable for any major or career path.

Office Management Responsibilities:

  • Oversees general office management duties including monitoring and ordering supplies, local errand running and delivery activities
  • Helps manage communication with the landlord, acts as point-person for sub-tenants
  • Coordinates relationships with external vendors and suppliers

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Supports staff through scanning, printing, and client deliverable production
  • Assists with client-related projects by editing and proof-reading presentations and written communication
  • Contributes to the firm’s social media strategy and maintains firm social media accounts
  • Oversees internal calendar management and event planning, including team quarterly retreats and outings
