Summer internship program at USC Columbia School of Medicine in the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience. Dr. Claudia Grillo is seeking two undergraduate students from the College of Charleston to work on a project this summer aimed at understanding the neuroanatomical pathways governing feeding behavior in rats. The students will be trained in stereotaxic surgery, feeding behavior testing, immunohistochemical techniques, and optogenetics. In addition, they will have the opportunity to attend a Microscopy Workshop, visit a state-of-the-art facility for MRI, and present their research findings at the Society for Neuroscience meeting in the fall.
The internship will be for the months of June and July. Housing will be covered and students will have a stipend of approx. $2,000 per month. Students interested in pursuing a career in neuroscience or related field, and underrepresented minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. All students (freshman, sophomores, juniors, seniors) are encouraged to apply regardless of any prior research experience. Please send a resume, unofficial transcript and a short description of your career goals to Dr. Meyer-Bernstein at email@example.com.
