Charleston Area Justice Ministry Event

Are you interested in social justice or urban studies/urban planning? The Charleston Area Justice Ministry is providing an opportunity to hear more about housing issues within the greater Charleston community.

On Monday, April 30th at 7:00 at Mt. Moriah Baptist, CAJM will host their annual Nehemiah Action. There will be over 2,300 people, and a heavy media presence at this event. Here, CAJM meets with public officials to implement policies around just housing in the lowcountry. They are specifically focused on securing housing options for those in our community earning 50% or less of the area median income (those that are earning $34,400 and below).

Hands of Hope Internship

What: Hands of Hope is Casa de Esperanza’s internship program which recruits young adults who have a desire to help abused, neglected and HIV positive children through work with the agency. Hands of Hope Interns commit one year to live and work with these vulnerable children in the Residential Program’s agency foster homes. Responsibilities include daily care of the children, household management, and the coordination of medical appointments and therapy sessions. The Hands of Hope Interns also work with caseworkers, psychological staff and community volunteers on a routine basis to ensure that the children in placement receive the highest quality of care.

Who: Recent college graduates, applicants must be 21+ years old

Still Looking for a Paid Research Position this Summer? Look No Further!

Summer internship program at USC Columbia School of Medicine in the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience. Dr. Claudia Grillo is seeking two undergraduate students from the College of Charleston to work on a project this summer aimed at understanding the neuroanatomical pathways governing feeding behavior in rats. The students will be trained in stereotaxic surgery, feeding behavior testing, immunohistochemical techniques, and optogenetics. In addition, they will have the opportunity to attend a Microscopy Workshop, visit a state-of-the-art facility for MRI, and present their research findings at the Society for Neuroscience meeting in the fall.

The internship will be for the months of June and July. Housing will be covered and students will have a stipend of approx. $2,000 per month. Students interested in pursuing a career in neuroscience or related field, and underrepresented minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. All students (freshman, sophomores, juniors, seniors) are encouraged to apply regardless of any prior research experience. NodeSC Call for Cybersecurity Interns

What: NodeSC, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is seeking two College of Charleston Honors interns in the Department of
Computer Science to develop a 9-lecture course on the topic of Web Vulnerabilities. The student interns will subsequently
co-teach their curriculum to 4-6 Charleston-area high school computer science students at the NodeSC site located on Daniel
Island, SC.

When: May 15th, 2018 through August 3rd, 2018; Tuesday through Thursday (9am – 4pm) required, Mondays and Fridays optional but preferred

The Lonon Foundation Seeks Marketing Intern for 2018-2019 Academic Year

The Lonon Foundation is a 501 (C)(3) non profit. Our mission is to help children affected by a parent or caregiver’s cancer diagnosis find comfort, heal and grow from their shared experiences.

We hope to have the spot filled by the end of April so we can get to know the person and get them familiar with the scope of the job. It would be about 8-10 hrs/week during the 2018-2019 Academic Year.

A few things that we are looking for in the candidate:
