Research Assistant

What: Research assistant needed for projects in the Departments of Biochemistry and Drug Discovery at MUSC. Projects involve chemical synthesis, enzyme kinetics, and microbiology. A strong background in chemistry / biochemistry is preferred, but a strong desire to learn may be a suitable substitute. This is currently an unpaid opportunity, but if the student remains on the project long-term and contributes significantly to its success, it will present opportunities for authorship on abstracts and in peer-reviewed publications.

Koru Mindfulness

What: Join us in a four week Koru Mindfulness class. You will learn new mind body skills and meditation techniques each week.

Who: Students who want to have higher grades, better sleep quality, less stress, and less self judgment. In order to attend you must be able to attend all four classes. This is not a credit bearing class.

Cognitive Neuroscience Research

What:musc_campus The Eckert laboratory (eckertlab.org) is seeking students to assist with research on neural systems that support attention and intention in human subjects. Research activities will include the analysis of cognitive persistence and neuroimaging data for studies on age-related changes in speech recognition. Students will learn about the cognitive neuroscience of aging, age-related changes in hearing and speech recognition, and neuroimaging data collection and analysis.

TEDxCharleston – Volunteers Needed

What: TEDxCharleston 2017: Shake it Up

When: October 18, 2017

Where: Charleston Music Hall (37 John Street)

TEDxCharleston is an all-day immersion experience at the intersection of science, art, performance and business. It is designed to enrich the Charleston, South Carolina community through presentations and entertainment that inspires, engages and transforms. Interested volunteers can apply here.

Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, August 22nd. Last year, tickets sold out in four hours. If you would like to attend the event, but the ticket costs presents a burden, you can apply for a need-based scholarship through September 1st.
