First Year Experience

Students interested in taking a First-Year Experience (FYE) course (first-year seminar or learning community) at the College of Charleston can select FYE when they register for their summer orientation. Students register for orientation using Cougar Trail on the Web on the College of Charleston’s website. Students who do not select FYE during the registration process can send their requests for fall to fye@cofc.edu. Students should talk with their academic advisor about registration for spring 2010 FYE options. FYE course descriptions can be viewed on the FYE website at www.cofc.edu/fye.

Orientation registration will be open starting April 2, 2009 for incoming students who have paid the tuition confirmation fee to the Office of Admissions. During the sign up process for orientation students can request a first and second FYE choice for the fall semester.  Students will receive an email sent to their campus email account confirming enrollment before their orientation date this summer.

It’s a bit early to be talking about this for the 2010-2011 school year (yikes!) but given that proposals will be due in October, faculty may want to begin finding Learning Community partners now. If you’d like to teach in a Learning Community, but don’t quite know who you should teach with, just reply to this post with your interests and we’ll see what kind of magic happens.
