COUGAR countdown and Exam Planning Schedule

A table of Exam Planning Resources–including Calendars, Final Exam Schedules, Class Assessment worksheets, the Exam Study Plan, Test Preparation and other study handouts–is set up in the Center for Student Learning. Please drop by and pick up the resources you need for exams and download the Four Week Study Plan Fall 2009!

Also, Cougar Countdown is coming November 30! Cougar Countdown is a 2 week series of events and activities designed to support and assist students during Exam Week.  Offices from Academic Affairs and Student Affairs have joined forces to provide a full calendar of events—check it out in next week’s GSO!  Activities will be hosted in the Addlestone Library and the Stern Student Center.

News of Interest for Fieldwork Projects

I’ve run across a few interesting things the past couple of days that may relate to some of the fieldwork projects currently going on.  I thought I would post it here.  Hope you find them useful.

  • Screening of Tapped: a new documentary about bottled water.
    Alliance for Planet Earth, Cougar Activities Board, LEEP, CCL, and others have all contributed towards this event.

    • When: Sat. 11/14 5:00 (music from 5-6 screening will start at 6:00)
    • Rain Location: Physicians Auditorium 11/21
    • Why: Bottled Water is having a serious environmental effect. Please come, you will be shocked at the size
    • Price: free! CofC student Adam Taylor has done all of the legwork and fund raising required bring this recently released film to Charleston – ”not available in ANY store!”
    • Who: everyone. Free and open to the p ublic. Please help spread the word about this film.

LITE Workshop Thursday @3 & 6 PM!

This week the LITE series is presenting 2 workshops.  Some of the topics may be useful for you as you begin to write your research papers, begin analyzing your field data or are working towards completing your class presentations. iMovie import issues

Hey all, I was attempting to import my movies, a couple were greyed out, and I was unable to select them. After putting them into quicktime, and exporting them as .MOV files, they were able to be imported. Just thought I’d share in case anyone else encountered this problem.

I ______________, give my consent as a participant in a study conducted by Courtney Hall for Anthropology 319: Research Methods in Expressive Culture at the College of Charleston. I understand that Courtney Hall is researching Contemporary Art in Charleston and that my participation will be used to help gain information about key cultural aspects and important information to better the understanding of this subject. I am aware that information will be obtained through the use of audio recordings, film, and stills and that any information may be reproduced in graphs,charts, etc. I understand that I am not obligated to answer all questions and that at anytime and I have the ability to withdraw any or all of my participation from the research.
