  2. What influences brought you into contact with jazz music?
  3. Who are some of you most favored artists and why?
  4. When or where are you favorite times or places to listen to jazz?  Why?
  5. What is your perception about the history of jazz music and jazz culture?
  6. How has jazz changed over the years you have been listening to it?
  7. What were some obstacles you might have had to overcome in order to listen to jazz as you wanted, participate in the culture surrounding jazz, or become educated in jazz?

We are conducting a study on the Peace Culture of Charleston. The data we obtain will be used to further our knowledge of this culture. The study is part of a class at the College of Charleston and the information gained will be shared only with the students and teacher of the class.

Concerning: Research Interview Process and Information

The intent of my research is to gain a better and more full understanding of jazz music, as well as, the culture and history surrounding this music.  Therefore, I feel that it is important to speak first hand with listeners, professors and students of jazz music and study.  You have been chosen, if you so oblige, to aide me with this important information through this interview.

I will simply ask you a series of questions inquiring about your history with jazz music and what you might know about the history of jazz music in general.

I would like you to understand that your participation in this interview is completely voluntary and that, if at any point, you feel uncomfortable, you may stop the interview process and any information gathered will be discarded.

Only myself, as well as, my professors and colleagues of anthropology class 319 will view the results of this interview.  Upon request, a copy of my final results and project of this study will be provided to you.
