by Suzanne

I have been a fan of this short film for awhile. I think it is beautifully done and has such great meaning in our world today. I hadn’t paid much attention to the artist until this assignment, but apparently Patrick Caddell directed the film and also took the photographs that are used in it. He has been politically involved since the Carter administration, working with film. This film was part of the SOS Live Earth series. I really love how he chose a little girl as the only character in the film because it illustrates that environmental issues will affect the youngest generations the most. The photographs in the film are fairly simple. Most of them are of one specific object, but I think the simplicity of them is part of the point trying to be made – the solutions to this global crisis are sometimes more simple than they seem…even the smallest acts can help. All of these photographs are symbols of hope for a better future. I also think that Caddell chose a perfect song. Its by a band called Katkhuda, and some of the lyrics say “All our lives come down to this, my friend” which stresses the importance these issues have to everyone.

    That was absolutely fantastic.

It reminded me of this, because of its similar message.
