Visual Journey
I have always loved and had a fasination with stop animation. I use to make movies when I was in Elementary school. I think it would be fun to do stop animation for my presentation.
I found that Willis O’Brien was the the “first” to use stop animation in america. Although it was being widely used all over the world, O’Brien’s imaginative use of stop motion, and his ambitious and inventive(Watchhere–> King Kong) filmmaking, has inspired generations of film greats such as George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Tim Burton, David Allen, as well as thousands of lesser known animators, both professional and amateur. Many leading science fiction and fantasy writers also credit him as a great source of inspiration.

Check out Jan Svankmajer. He’s a Czechoslovakian film maker that uses stop animation. He’s got a lot of short films and a really great adaptation of Alice in Wonderland (called Alice). Really bizarre, but quite good.
