Prof. Lott:

“Today was the last day of class — tomorrow we’ll be packing up, and
Saturday morning at 5:30 AM we’ll climb on the bus for the airport in Rome.

Instead of holding class here at the villa, I packed them into the van and
drove to the top of Monteluco, the mountain overlooking Spoleto, and the
site of a small 12th Century church, now abandoned. The first photo is of
the view of Spoleto from the church, San Giuliano.

After we took in the view, we rode back to town, then took the new outdoor
escalators to the top of the city, where we sat down at an outdoor café and spent the rest of class time writing.
