Alumni Spotlight: Beverly Snow ’12

Posted by: murphys2 | August 6, 2019 | No Comment |

The School of Education, Health, and Human Performance is composed of teacher education, exercise science and public health majors. Each EHHP graduate pursues a wide array of careers with the common thread of making a difference.

Beverly taught physical education in Los Angeles, California for five years before earning her master’s degree in communication management from the University of Southern California. She now is a Communications and Operations Coordinator for La Piana Consulting, a nonprofit consulting firm. She has a multi-faceted role, which includes materials development and design, website and database management, and technology support.

An important factor in her stepping outside of her role as educator was having her work connected to a mission that is improving leadership and management practices throughout the sector for greater social impact. She feels her role allows her to work in a variety of settings, but she feels drawn to the nonprofit sector. She loves her role and current field because it is ever evolving.

“The College of Charleston gave me the education and experience I needed to be a successful teacher. I taught physical education for five years (and loved it) before taking the leap into communications. Because of my experiences at CofC and my years teaching, education will always be at my core. The skills I learned by working with students and their families in underserved communities inspired me to stay connected to organizations that contribute to enacting change where it is needed most. I would not be where I am today without my experiences and education from the College of Charleston’s School of Education, Health, and Human Performance.”
