Two of our Teaching Assistants were announced as 2015 College of Charleston Excellence in Collegiate Education and Leadership (ExCEL) Award recipients yesterday. Lydia Geathers was recognized as Outstanding Student from the School of Education, Health, and Human Performance and Aliah Muhammad Outstanding Student from Humanities and Social Sciences. We are not surprised at their selection from more than 126 nominees as we know they are both fantastic young women – committed to their families, school, communities, and future professional lives. Congratulations!Lydia Aliah

P1110564 P1110570 P1110580So, the weather has turned and our winter outdoor activities have given way to increased interest in more digging – but guess what, the children have moved so much dirt over the past months that they decided they needed more to fill up holes and have a stockpile for the “next great idea”. Fortunately for us, our friends in the campus Grounds Crew have a large sand pile in the parking lot behind our playground and they have also agreed to let our kids “raid” the pile of tree/shrub clippings they keep there. Good news for us!!! AND we love opportunities that require the children to really exert themselves and use all their strength. Hence, a trip to the pile recently for sand and branches with wheelbarrows, shovels, and containers.
