Undergraduate Research Position

Dr. Alan Strand has a new project that has funding for undergrad students for the next three years.  In particular, this project is for developing a statistical model of forest movement over the past 12000 years.  The model involves an enormous amount of monte carlo simulation and a lot of disparate sub-module integration.  So I’m looking for students to help develop functions, unit tests for functions and some new statistics for examining genetic data.  Because of the sheer scale of the simulations, these functions need to be optimized to run really fast. Please feel free to reach out to Alan Strand at stranda@cofc.edu. He is interested in students at any year, but students with higher skills and motivation will be given priority.
