Interdisciplinary Minors
The College offers 24 different Interdisciplinary Minors. These programs are designed to enrich and expand our students’ horizons by breaking down the barriers between the traditional disciplines. Interdisciplinary Minors acquaint students with a subject or region of the world from the perspective of multiple disciplines in a structured course of study. Accordingly, these programs combine classes and faculty from several different disciplines. Link to listing of these minors: http://www.cofc.edu/about/idminors.html

Do you know why all students don’t take the same # of general electives?
In order to graduate from the College of Charleston, you must complete 122 credit hours with a GPA of 2.0 or higher. The total number of credit hours from the General Education Requirements varies depending on how many courses satisfy both a major requirement and a general education requirement. An average of 56-57 credit hours is needed to satisfy the General Education Requirements. Majors vary greatly in number of hours required. Some majors require 30 hours while others require more than 60 hours. You are advised to take electives as needed to reach 122 total credit hours. Electives offer the opportunity to explore multiple disciplines. Students find many ways to utilize their elective hours. Some undecided students take classes to test out majors of interest, while others may fill requirements for a declared minor. It’s up to you!
