PR Intern Needed at Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society seeks an intern interested in pursuing a future career in marketing/public relations to assist with our Light the Night campaign. Applicants must have excellent communication and organization skills, demonstrate creativity and attention to detail, be self-motivated and possess strong leadership skills. Interns will have a unique opportunity to contribute to our quest to cure blood cancer. Internship is for Fall 2018; start date as soon as possible. 15 hours/week.

Responsibilities:
  • Managing all social media content and communication and developing greater social media presence for the Light The Night.
  • Increasing local public relations footprint – writing press releases and local media outreach.
  • Creating marketing materials for volunteers, teams, and retail partners.
  • Reaching out to possible donors and volunteers.
Learning Objectives:
  • Create comprehensive marketing and communication plans targeting specific audiences.
  • Develop timelines, structures, and plans for special event marketing and social media outreach.
  • Cultivate and develop relationships with donors and sponsors; maintain relationships and network over time.
  • Work with retail partners to create individualized sponsorship plans.
  • Engage with the community, including patients and families, in an enriching way.
